Pageant Wyse, Inc., Home of the Miss Oak Harbor Pageant
The Miss Oak Harbor Scholarship Pageant is brought to you by Pageant Wyse, a 501c3. Pageant Wyse is comprised of board members Jes Walker-Wyse, River Powers and Mollie Brodt and Cheryl Grehan with the goal of introducing the spirit of pageantry to Whidbey Island, WA through a scholarship program that will empower young women.
Upon the birth of her third son, Jes knew that hopes of pink, princesses, and pearls were not in her future. She chose the world of pageants to fulfill the calling she has to mentor young women and establish the foundation for a program that will develop the community’s future leaders.
Growing up in Southern California and having the opportunity to participate in local pageants Jes learned a lot about herself. She blossomed from a quiet, shy teenager to an outgoing, confident young woman. Pageantry challenged her to connect with businesses and professionals through effective communication. It created a positive atmosphere where she could develop life-long friendships with other competitors. It held her accountable to others as a leader demonstrating integrity and self-confidence. It taught her how to face adversity with poise and humility.
After graduating high school, Jes decided to join the Navy. Her first duty station was NAS Whidbey Island where she met and married her husband Jon. They have been in the Pacific Northwest 15 years and have made Oak Harbor their home. She and Jon have three boys, a dog named Bart, and a Lizard. They most enjoy camping and watching movies. When Jes is not with her family she is fulfilling her duties as the Branch Manager at Peoples Bank and she dedicates her volunteer time to the betterment of Oak Harbor through multiple community projects and memberships.
